When Idiots Go On Crusade

You know what, some folks just seem to like going off on crusades, 'cause they got nothing better to do.  Case in point, a certain idiot that thinks just because he makes a show of being an active participant in charitable efforts in SL he has the authority to decide who can react to events on the grid and how.

The guy attacked some blogger for stating his opinion on the One Billion Rising event that just got done taking place in Second Life, accusing him of attacking the event itself.  I read the links and saw nothing in it that attacked OBR or the premise behind it.  The writer quoted from a couple of other bloggers, one who criticized it and another who defended it.  That's what responsible journalists are supposed to do when writing about events: quote people on all sides of the story and give readers enough information to make up their own minds.  In fact, the writer was careful to avoid making too much of his own opinion known.

But to read the moron's diatribe, the blog entry was an attack on the event itself.  This dude has been caught lying about other people before, and I always get the impression when he goes off on a tear like this that he's doing it just 'cause he thinks he's been one-upped by someone he don't like and he feels he has to take them down a peg or three.  And if the truth gets distorted all out of shape in the process, well, that's just what his type calls "collateral damage."

Like Bret Butler used to say in her standup act, "the child ain't right."
